In fact, I had no idea this was going on until I read it here. If you
already knew I'm sure you could have ignored the thread. Now, I have turned
on the news but won't have normally.

I'll have to get a hard case I think. But not shouting "camera".
Maybe a sticker "sewage clearance equipment"?

They even mentioned that on the BBC-news about an hour ago - they tried to
log in to the BAA website live in their news. No way.

Not a surprise though, as lots of people try to get the latest news.

That would label you a bio-terrorist ;-)

Yep, on the BBC site the usual right - hand link to the BAA site wasn't
there, pretty unusual...

Lucky you if you got it repaired.
The manual for my new camera indicates clear that it's not supposed to be in
checked luggage while flying and thus I guess the warranty isn't valid.
Usually a warranty isn't valid for damage from outside.

Are you *kidding*!?

Then of course there are the dolts who will post, "Just heard on WSB radio
here in Atlanta..." or wherever -- many HOURS after a major story is broken.
I guess they think we don't have the means or whatever to hear the Big Nooze
until they tell us...

[On the local Chicago nooze they are talking to a Chicago guy on his mobile
from Gatwick but showing the stock footage of LHR that's been on for hours
now...oh well]

In Olden Times I would have had my ear by my (still) trusty Sony SW radio, I
don't think I've listened to any SW for years, except recently for a bit to
tune in Radio Havana re: the Castro thing...

I heard about today's event first on flyertalk.com, e.g.:

Currently (1340 BST) the Heathrow Airport web site consists of a single page
explaining the situation, with a single link to a BAA page containing more
of the same.
