originator back again, thanks to those who suggested various vehicle per hour things,
less thanks to those who came up with diverse diversions; but what i really wanted to
find out was a snapshot, i.e. if you flew over at 200,000 feet and took a photo, how
many would there be at that instant. any further guesses/info?
thanks kkk

I got taken to the pub up near Dagenham where the loonies used to meet up -
nothing under a 911 in the car park, and some other serious stuff that made them
look underpowered. Must have been about 1988? I can believe that kind of speed a:
just after it opened, and b: late at night/early morning. Nowadays? Bwaahahaha,
as they say.

If the record only dropped to an hour in the early 90's then someone is claiming to have done the 47 minutes time within the last ten years. I still think that it is improbable.
PS Check this link for some hard figures - estimated 200,000 veicles per day use it, etc http://www.wikipedia.com/wiki/M25_motorway

have to agree - the max possible speed must have been going down for the last 10, if
not 15 years, ANYTIME of day or night, although the nutters were certainly still
racing post Gatso installations (bloody Dutch - what did the UK ever do to you?!?!)
