Help with Berlin Location

Hi;
I'm wondering if some of you Berliners who read this newsgroup or
anyone else familiar with Berlin can give me some advice? I'm trying
to decide between hotels in 2 neighborhoods - one close to the Zoo in
the western city center, which looks from the map to be most
convenient; the other is further out in Charlottenburg, near the
Kur'damm and the Adenaurplatz U-Bahn stop.
Which area would be better for sightseeing, restaurants, concerts, and
for a woman alone to walk around at night?
Thanks so much!!
Cheers,
Ann

Either location will be fine. Both are in ideal locations where you can walk
or take the public tranportation (S-Bahn or U-Bahn). Personally, I would get a
hotel in Charlottenburg as it is near the Ku'damm which has really good
shopping and many restaurants.

Hi Ann,
I travelled alone to Berlin a couple of weeks ago, and I stayed at the
Hotel Bogota in Charlottenburg. Charlottenburg is very pleasant (I
believe it used to be the chi-chi area of West Berlin), but if you are
more interested in active pursuits I think that the Zoo would be a
better place to stay.
