Yep. Personally I like the idea of the EU though am not familiar
enough with the specifics of this constitution to comment.

You mean "certainty", right? What's truly certain is that the right-wing
loonie types who "know for sure" like JBK will call everyone who disagrees
with them left-wingers, while left-wing loonie types (we have them on this
NG too) who "know for sure" will call everyone who disagrees with them
fascists.

But the "right wing' types don't call for the organized silencing of
CNN, NPR,BBC or people in this NG... something that is tops on their
agenda.... "Haven't you kill filed him yet" ?

It is pathetic....

Well, I can't say I agree with you there - I don't see where the left
is trying to silence the media. And despite the Bush=Hitler claims, I
don't think anyone on the right is, either. At least not systematically.
But I do think it's pathetic to chime in on many threads merely to put
shit on someone's doorstep and run away, as some do here often.

Interesting! I didn't know Goebbels was from the loonie left!
Amazing how this loonie righter makes up his own history to suit his own
purposes!

The right-left terminology became useless with the arrival of National
Socialism. National Socialism is a pathological product of socialism itself
and was anti-Capitalist. So were the Nazis left or right? Neither, they
were totalitarian like the Communists. On the other hand certain
regimes of the 1930s-40s were authoritarian conservative (the right), like
Petain's and Franco's governments which did also play footsy with French
and Spanish fascists. Curiously, for Americans, the European authoritarian
conservatives also were anti-Capitalist since they had an anti-money
prejudice which grown out of their Catholic roots.

It should be always remembered that for Europe and the United States,
Capitalism appeared to many be failing in the 1930s. And beware,
history does appear to repeat itself now and then.

Well, not necessarily.

I think that the European authoritarian conservatives wanted to keep the
money in their own countries or for themselves.
Dictators & their cronies generally keep the money for themselves. This
is in itself anti-capitalist (no?). Definitely anti free markets.
But they certainly aren't "anti money". Perhaps "anti the monied classes"?

Never mind the fact that just because someone is Catholic doesn't mean
they can't or don't want to make lots of money....

During the GOP Convention in NYC, more than 1000 people marched down in
front of Fox News and proclaimed the protest to be a "shut-up-a-thon"

Figgy, do get a sense of perspective. I've seen protesters chanting that
they want Bush out of the White House. That doesn't make them
anarchists, any more than people who would love to see ****s News go
down the toilet don't believe in free speech.
