So?

Would it be the first time the BBC would have carried a story cooked up by
someone's spin machine?

Remember the forged documents "proving existence" of Iraqi nuclear
weapons?

Why would this article be so surprising? It is well known that Chirac has
had
dealings with Iraq for years and even sold him Nuclear Technology in the
80's
that would have given Iraq the bomb (Thank You Israel). Since the Gulf War
France continued to lobby to remove UN Sanctions for purely Economic
purposes (Oil Money) while illegally selling Military Hardware to Saddam.
In Fact, behind Russia, France has sold 30 times as much military hardware
to
Iraq vs. the US. The ties were quite close between France and Iraq.
A little to close it seems ;o)

Arguing that France took the position it did based upon commercial
interests is similar to arguing the US went into Iraq for oil.

Both took the position they did strictly driven by *domestic* politics.

Hopefully Iran will build its own nuclear device, or buy them from
Pakistan when that country is liberated.

Big deal, Donnie Rumsfeld did help Iraq procure raw materials for its
chemical weapons programme.
