Prashant, it is so long back that I've forgotten where you are - but
licences from other EC countries are valid in France and do not have to
be changed unless you are required to do for having committed a traffic
offence. If French resident you can exchange another EC licence for a
French one at the prefecture without taking a test (but you will have
to pay a fee).

You English sucks. If you plan on obtaining any long term residency in
France you would need a permis de conduire; my US driver license was
good for one year after I arrived in France. I don't know if your
Bangladesh driver's license is acceptable here, even on a short-term
basis. We always read stories in the paper about 500 people dying when
a bus drives off the mountain into the Jamuna River on its way to
Dhaka. In France vehicles cannot accomodate more passangers then there
are seats. Sheep, goats, pigs and chickens are not allowed in
passanger vehicles. Magda complains that she is often stopped because
of her resemblence to one of the above. You cannot safely transport
your extended family of 18 in a Citron. The French government needs
to be assured of this. A permis de conduire is a privilege not a right.

Not necessarily. I've driven quite a lot on French roads and never ever had
a French DL.

AFAIR He said earlier that he was going to become a French resident or was it
president?

And I hasten to add - legally. At all times (officer).

:)

Even so, he may not actually *have* to take the test. /Assuming/ he already
has a licence and the french accept that first. But being realistic, I
assume he's already checked that option.

I didn't need to take an austrian test when I moved here - and Austria
wasn't in the EU then.

In my mind this ZUB-human is a very annoying, yapping, neurotic little poodle - with the
"nice" haircut and a pink bow, to boot. How do you like the image?
