In the past, I've gotten through quicker on the line for cars without
stickers.

If you have a problem with mobility, you could buy one online:

Look for 'Motorway Vignette'

Yep. If I don't want to stop there she can puke out the damn

Please don't tell her I said that...

You could have problems during the flight unless you are sitting in front of
her in an open cockpit.

Remind her to wind it down first.

And one more remark: gas is less expensive in Switzerland
than in France, Italy and Germany. Imho not really worth
crossing the border just for filling a gas-tank (nevertheless
plenty of foreign residents cross the border just for that
- leading to higher gas prices in Switzerland along the
border ....), but worth trying to take advantage of the
price difference when driving from France to Italy via
Switzerland

Same applies for trips via Luxemburg (from and to France,
Belgium, Germany) and a few other countries such
as Austria (from and to Italy and Germany) .....

When crossing the border between Italy and Switzerland at Como/Chiasso,
the Swiss officer takes care to divide cars with stickers, that are
often wawed through, from cars without stickers. You wait in your car
till a sticker seller comes to you. Sellers accepts euros (at a slightly
inflated rate), but I believe they do not take credit cards (it would be
a little impractical).

Swiss cars are often checked more throughly not only for alcohol but
even for trying to bring imported goods. I have Swiss friends that have
been stopped and told they were bringing too much sliced ham from Italy.

In the opposite sense, going from Switzerland to Italy, officers seem to
be more concerned about tax evasion (Italians having undeclared bank
accounts in Switzerland and bringing money and/or financial docs), so
Italian cars are more likely to be stopped.

In a situation like yours, I find a bit of competition always improves
the service.
