Default Cannes during trade fair

Hi
we're trying to get accomodation for four people in Cannes from 11-14th
of March next year. The problem is that there is a big trade fair going
on and hotels are either booked out or charging crazy prices.
Anyone have creative solutions - campsite, rent a villa, rent a boat
and sit in the harbour?

Unfortunately, most of those creative solutions (I don't know about
campsites) would probably be even more expensive than the hotels' crazy
prices. Cannes is pretty much a trade fair city.

Stay in Nice and take day trips to Cannes.

Change your dates to just after the film festival. That's when we
went, and got excellent weekeday rates at the Carlton. =R

Have you tried www.hotel.de ? They are showing 48 from
200euros and 38 from 70 euros for that period.

Note, if you use that site, you can select by stars, price
and distance from the centre.

Oops - typos:-)

48 = 4*
38 = 3*

Here's a piece on the Cannes Festival but suggestions work for other
trade show periods. Staying in a nearby town is sometimes the best
option. Juan les Pins is two train stops from Cannes and it's beach
front is similar without the showbizy glamour and prices. Antibes has
more trains stop at off hours. Nice has a lot of choices. Frejus is a
bit farther distant the other way but it is near the animal park. You
could also find a pretty good villa up in the hills by Grasse, but
need car or bus to get to Cannes beach area.

As others have said, just out of town is the best option. Personal
preference goes to Juan-les-Pins, as there are very regular train
connections until quite late and it's only about 10 minutes and about 5
a ticket - beats taxis, believe me. Nice is further out on the same
line, but not too far either.

Are you attending Mipim yourselves? If so, Juan-les-Pins is still a good
option.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions. It looks like we've found
something in Mougins.
