Another WebTV poster who can't be troubled to quote his
sources! One can't even be sure to WHOM he was replying,
but it scarcely matters, since his reply (apparently to
Magda) was so churlish he's a good candidate for everyone's
kill-file. (P-L-O-N-K)

I agree with the taxi approach. one word of caution however, determine
how much the Taxi SHOULD cost before arriving. just call the hotel in
Paris and ask them what the reasonable taxi rate is for the number of
people that will be travelling and the number of bags. they will give
you a good estimate.

also, if you don't do this (find out ahead of time what the cost
should be), be sure and keep the receipt the taxi driver offers you.
you should jot down the license plate number on it too. this way if
you check in at the hotel and they tell you that you paid too much,
the hotel may be able to get some money refunded based on the
information you collected.

this worked for me last year when I didn't know what to pay (for the
second time, the first time I was ripped off for 40 Euros and declined
the receipt so had no recourse) and the hotel owner told me the taxi
driver overcharged me by 30 Euros. they made some phone calls and got
my 30 Euros back. don't know what they did, but they were glad to see
I had the receipt and the license plate since this info allowed them
to take care of business. I should have known better. this was from
Gare du Nord travelling to near Orsay museum.
