Villa des Orangers in Marrakech
Has anyone stayed at the Villa des Orangers in Marrakech? We were
looking for a top notch warm place to stay. I know there is a 5 star
hotel in Marrakech too. Which is better?

Villa des Orangers in Marrakech
This ryad hotel is a top of the line hotel.
It has much more atmosphere than a five star hotel.
I use ryads all the time instead of 5 star hotels for the special settings and services the client gets.
True ryads are restored palaces within the medina of the Imperial Cities and have 4 little gardens with a fountain in the center.

I wish my memory wasn't faded on this(spelling too) ,but you have lot
of good places to stay on the main road(forgot the name) that
runs/splits from the airport. Staying right heads to the Medina, left is
the hotel area heading to Mohommad 5(downtown). A search on the web will
find you the hotel names. The hotel mentioned in other post is great,by
the medina. I have stayed at the Atlas(OK),Hilton or was it Sheraton?
(real good) and the Nfis(Fair though rebuilt now). Be sure to get the
french onion soup at the little eatery inside the Nfis north of the
pool, main diner there(past reception) not great. The mint tea at the
Atlas rocks hard and if with a ladyfriend the buggy ride(take the long
one) in front of hotel and else where is great. I always found
Morocco safe and a lot of fun, though current world politics make the
threat level higher(according to U.S Gov/Security report). If the
Berbers give you a gift at the Medina you know you paid too much.

I know the Sheraton and other 4 aand 4 star hotels. Still say they ryad type guest houes offer a ore luxurious experience....
About the berebrs, not always true..
I have been with people who make a big purchase at fair rates- and they give a gift.
My Berber partner always gets things cheaply- and they always give me a gift...........
