Some question about Morrocco
Hi all friends,
If I take a ferry from Spain to Tangier, I was told that I must stamp my
passport in the ferry. And after leaving the port, I have to tak e the train
to Rabat or Casablanca. How can I get to the train which is rather far away
from the port - can any body tell me the name of the train station and how
can I check the time table of the train for connections to places.
Many thank

Correct. About 30 minutes into the trip you'll notice that people on board
start lining up at the desk on the main indoor deck. There's no rush; you
can wait until the queue dies down.

The train station is called Morora, and you'll have to take a taxi to get
there. If you are a tough bargainer you can get the cab ride for dh20, but
anything under dh50 and you've done a respectable job.
The web site for the train company is at http://www.oncf.ma . It's in French
(or Arabic if you prefer) but even if you don't read those languages it's
pretty simple. Just click "Horaires" on the left, chose Tanger Morora from
the "Gare de depart" popup, choose your destination from "Gare d'arrivee",
and click "Chercher" to get a list of trains.

Re: Some question about Morrocco
Hi.
After you get off the ferry, it is about a 10 minute walk to get outside the
port area. Another 5 minutes or less, the train station is right there on
your left.
If you take a taxi, get a small one right after you depart customs and pay
not more than 30 dirhams to be taken that short distance.
Looking at the boards inside the train station, one can more or less figure
out the schedules. Get in line at the window and say where you want to go.
The tellers are usually most helpful.

Re: Some question about Morrocco
I have answered this via my email but do not see it posted so shall post again. I apologize if it comes up 2x.
After you get off the ferry and go through customs, it is about a 10 minute walk to get outside the port. About 4-5 minutes, right there on your left- assuming you walk straight ahead on the street in front of you parallel to the water- you find thet train station.
If you do decide to take a taxi, get one inside the port area right after you go through customs.
Get a petite taxi and pay 30 dirhams to take you the short distance...
Once inside the train station, look up at the boards. You shlould be able to figure out the next train...
Get into the line or queue (depending on your country) and state your destination.. The tellers often speak English and are helpful.

Is the port train station open again? It had been closed for years. That's
excellent news, because Morora is a nuisance to get to.

Tanger Ville, I think. I didn't mean inside the port; I think we're talking
about the same thing. I just didn't realize it was open again and I'm very
happy if it is. Then again I haven't been there since 2002.
