I have travelled on SAA many times across the atlantic and I find the
service great, but....
My wife is a black african (not South African) and her friends fly SAA often
(its the only non-stop to the USA). They BITTERLY complain about the way
they are treated on the airline. One of them even used to work for the
airline. They say there there is clearly a second level status applied to
them.
These aren't single complaints from typical complainers. The people I know
have had repeated bad experiences isolated from one another that they will
avoid SAA at all costs.

Can you give some examples?
From my limited experience with SAA is that most staff the traveller comes
into contact with is black. So what type of problems have they experienced?

Can you give some examples?
From my limited experience with SAA is that most staff the traveller comes
into contact with is black. So what type of problems have they experienced?

Xenophobia? A strange thing for airline staff to suffer from,
