Hi folks,

our decision has come to that we will go to the Northern Parks in
Tanzania (Serengeti, Ngorongoro) one week (-ish) and then ~one week sun
and sand. I think that the choice has fallen to Mafia (prior to Pemba
ans Zanzibar).

There seems to be two options on Mafia 1) Kinasi Lodge and 2) Pole Pole
Lodge.

Which one is to prefer?

Someone been to them?

Also thinking of passing by the Usambara Mountains on the way down.
Anyone heard of a backpacers place called Karibuni? (Yes, as in Welcome)

I can't help you with the island lodges, but I'll make a small
recommendation: go to the beach first. Then go on safari.

Another good option on Mafia Island is the Mafia Island Lodge. The manager,
Mr Cesare is a very friendly Italian. I met him last month in Bagamoyo. In
Usambara you should not miss Mkuzu Creek Resort, an upmarket Backpacker
Place in a perfect environment for hiking.
