Here on the coastal plain near Olhão the humidity is varying between 20 and 30%. We only see high humidity when it is raining which it seldom does in the summer months.

You must me very far inland. Along the coast that would be rare and this is the current reading: But of course the temps are cooler near the coast than further inland, so higher humidity is no problem.

We live no more than 1.5 km inland. Current readings average 30% humidity, 30 C with a coolish breeze from the south - very pleasant except when gardening this morning.

Even if the temp and humidity might be the same as HK, you might experience more heat in HK due to urban heat island effect, so the buildings/concrete/glass reflects the heat. Then you have different wind directions, smog etc.
Air quality can make a huge difference.
We live in a village near the Chinese border so we don't suffer from any "urban heat island effect". As it's high summer here the (humid but clean) wind is blowing off the ocean, so we don't have any smog; in fact it's quite the reverse, the skies are crystal clear, but it's crazy hot. In the winter the (dry and dirty) wind will swing around and blow from the north, which means we get pollution from mainland China. The worse it is there the worse it is here.
