Default White goods and electrical appliances.

We are due to move into our newly renovated house in Tabua in April and wondered where to get large electrical goods.

We will need a washing machine and am hoping the existing fridge is serviceable, otherwise will need one too.

All I saw last year when we bought the house was a lot of Chinese rubbish and assume the better makes are very expensive.

Are there any online sites I can visit to look at what is available? I don't want to bring these large items all the way from the UK if I can get them locally.

We won't need a cooker as a simple hob and halogen pot oven is what we use in Thailand and works better, plus there is a wood heated bread oven in the annex.

Beds and lounge furniture we will get from Ikea..probably.

Thanks

We had to buy dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, electric oven, electric hob & double stainless steel sink when we finished our barn conversion 2 or 3 years ago & went to Coimbra for a tour of the main electrical goods dealers such as Warton's etc.

We made a list of the exact models we liked & their prices & then went home & looked for exactly those same models on https://www.kuantokusta.pt

The kuantokusta prices for those same items was €1400 less than the lowest prices from the main high street dealers.

Oh & we also got free delivery & cash on delivery........ and the delivery truck arrived bang on time on the appointed day.

We bought our beds from Pipo Moveis on the outskirts of Coimbra because they were the best prices for good quality.

If you do look at Ikea, look very carefully as the delivery prices because from my experience they're usually helluva high.

This may be off use, or at least get you started.

Wow! that was easy thanks, Coimbra is easy to get to, though hard for me to find my way around. Plan on getting a SH Android phone and a satnav app.

Any good furniture shops for mid range beds and lounge stuff.

First of all we have a van (camper) so collection will be the order of the day.

Any reason you went for electric cooking, I thought electricity charges are high, so we went for bottled gas, my missus is used to it too?

Bottled gas costs a fortune in Portugal too.

We just prefer to cook electric partly because we're used to it & partly because it's easier to keep the hob clean.

Pipo Moveis in Coimbra has a good range of beds at decent prices & their staff speak English which is a bonus.

Conforama surprisingly good, Sofás, colchões, móveis, decoração e electrodomésticos - Conforama - Conforama

Bought sideboard, coffee table, good home office set up. All delivered punctually, assembled without fuss and solid.
Missed out on other furniture they had in their sale as had already bought elsewhere.
