Using BPI bank card in another EU country
Hi
I have a BPI bank card and I plan to use it in Germany, does any one know if there is charge to use it in ATM and paying in Germany? I know in Spain it's free. Many thanks!

◾Will it cost more to withdraw money from an ATM in another European country than in my own country?
NO - Banks should charge you no more for a cross-border withdrawal in euros than they would for a national transaction of the same value in euros.
...
◾Can I use my debit card in another EU country under the same conditions as in my home country and without incurring additional charges?
YES - the EU rules apply to all kinds of card payments (payment by debit, deferred debit and credit card). You should pay the same transaction charges as if you were using your card at home. Furthermore the bank cannot charge you any additional fees (e.g. annual fees or one-off charges) if you use the card in another EU country.

I think you might need to be vigilant when withdrawing cash still, though. I was over the border in Spain recently and one of the ATMs advised of a charge for a cash withdrawal. Not at the beginning of the transaction, of course - after all the numbers and confirmations etc had been punched in. I baulked at it on principle and found another which didn't.
