Any recommendations for a cheap tyre shop around Tavira? There's one on every corner but I don't fancy spending a day getting prices. Any websites, kwikfit type? Thanks

Not in Tavira, Jonny, but if you come over this way at bit.
On the way to Olhao, just before the cube roundabout, on the right hand side, we had some new tyres there - and very cheap, but food ons.
They also sell cars and the tyre place is at the back.

Thanks, good site. That'll show me what the 'right' price should be.

Those prices are very good indeed, just checked two different tyres I bought recently for our cars and their price is about same! I reckon I go to one of cheapest places in my area and I do haggle so to get quite as cheap as this site you may struggle! I would not buy online though, considering fitting charges etc you would end up paying more and I would imagine few garages would fit your tyres since you never bought from them.
It is certainly a good guide though for target prices!

Santa Catarina. Coming from Tavira, just before you get to the Quinta Fonte do Bispo, turning on the right. I have used places in Olhao but have ended up back there.

Good place, both guys speak excellent English; much better than my Portuguese. I purchased 4 semi off-road Hankook tyre's including balance and new valves for much less than I was quoted in Tavira.

Are there any requirements for tyre quality in Portugal?
In Spain the quality is specified on the registration documents and replacements must meet or exceed that quality.

I get mine from Cartaya in Spain. I saved over €30 per tyre for my Merc ML (€105 instead of €138). Includes fitting and balancing etc.
