Just FYI as Annetje said: Certificado de Bagagem - Consulado Geral de Portugal em Londres

However you have to jump through some hoops.

Yes, I am aware thank you but as previously said, there were other issues complicating my ability to do that. Many people will be able to, which is good for them.

The official link was also for those who come to this thread seeking information, sorry it doesn't work for you.

This thread was started is a result of requests on another thread so it might not make sense to some.

If moving your personal possessions from the UK to Portugal you may be eligible to move them free of duties and taxes and your starting point should be the link in post 17

However, if you find that you do not satisfy the requirements (as Shrnome didn't) then you will need to create your own list similar to that Sharnome has posted at the very beginning of this thread. Sharnome kindly posted this to try and save those falling into the latter category some time and hassle.

Yes, we have moved our belongings and yes, 23% IVA. It took a few weeks to clear through Customs - we had a Custom's agent. The 23% IVA is also levied on the transport charged.

Would you recommend doing this through a customs agent and if so where can I find one and what roughly do they charge for their services? Thanks, R

I did it through Algarve express who engaged a Custom's Clearing Company. The Company they engaged was Faotir - International Transport Society of Algarve Lda. Just to be clear, you still have to compile your own packing list. The charge for the Custom's Agent was approximately €150 (from what I remember, I'd have to go back and find the various invoices) and the charge from Custom's itself was just over €1,400. This included IVA & duties.

does the customs agent offer any advice or do they just handle the dreaded paperwork? Also, with reference to the certificate of compliance that you posted, I went into the Apple shop this morning to see if they could produce such a thing for the various computers my wife and I have and which we plan to ship. They told me they could not provide the certificate as they are not required in HK. This puzzles me as our computers here are exactly the same as apple computers in Europe. I can’t understand why I would need a certificate…

Re: Some Commodity Codes

They just deal with the paperwork.

Some certificates can be found online and as for the no need for a certificate - if they are shipping anything electrical to the EU, they will need one. It means that the good supplied meets the required standards of the country/countries it's being exported to.

Many thanks for that. Googled Apple certs and found they have a location where they can be downloaded as PDFs. Also found one for the wife’s Bosch food mixer. Another box ticked …
