Some Commodity Codes
 

Unfortunately, my final packing list was saved as a .pdf. I have taken screenshots of most of what I did (removing some duplications there were pages of boxes of books), also removing personal details for obvious reasons but this should be helpful - rather than having to research every commodity code, as I had to!!

Thanks very much for posting this although looking through it feels a bit like rummaging through your personal belongings. I do hope that nobody feels it's appropriate to comment on what you chose to ship out.

We shipped what was, in retrospect, a load of unnecessary junk, so I'm in no position to comment :lol:

A lot of it was replacing cheap junk we had out here. Some of it was just really useful and much was sentimental (books, photos, etc).

OMG😩. They want every single item listed with cost? I’ve been chucking stuff ever since I got back in October but it sounds like I need to start again😢. And what actually is a certificate of compliance? Does that mean I need on for my desktop Mac and also another one for wife’s? Maybe I should have relocated to Bosnia or somewhere else with lesss bureaucracy 😕

This is a CE certificate for the Dualit toaster I packed. Dualit were easy to deal with, many other companies couldn't be bothered.

Not a problem. I wish I'd had a list like this when I was doing it so hopefully, it saves time and hassle for others.

That is really very helpful, have you actually moved your belongings yet? Are the values all subject to 23% IVA on arrival?

Yes, we have moved our belongings and yes, 23% IVA. It took a few weeks to clear through Customs - we had a Custom's agent. The 23% IVA is also levied on the transport charged.

I still don't understand you had to pay IVA on your personal belongings when you move permanently to Portugal (Did you ?) or maybe I'm misunderstanding something ?
Here is a moving company who claims one doesn't have to pay this if one fulfils certain conditions :

Lived outside of Portugal for more than 12 months. And that Portugal is now your primary residence

AND they do not sell any of these items in Portugal.

AND they are importing their goods within 12 months of their permanent arrival in Portugal.

I have owned a 'fully furnished' property for several years. I have had an NIF number for many years. I have 'residence'..... lots of information that make it less straight forward and this IS according to MULTIPLE transport companies because I did get several quotes. The message stayed the sam though. You will of course discover that for yourself and when you do, please make use of my commodity code list.
