There used to be an industrial area named "Usa"
Things manufactured there were marked "Made in USA"
I bought a McCullough chainsaw at Leroy Merlin. I asked the guy about it.
"Made in Switzerland." he told me, pointing to the label that read; "Husqvarna Switzerland"
I pointed out the next line "Made in PRC"
He looked truly shocked when I told him PRC means China.
Of course that doesn't mean it isn't a good machine.

I bought a pair of German trousers from the well known make..'Gardeur' previously of impeccable quality. I wore them on a long flight to the USA (Seattle) The following day my whole body from waist to ankles came out in a red rash. Gradually it faded during the trip. On the way back to NL I wore them again.. Same result.. This time the rash was so bad I had to go to the doctor. Result? Contact Dermatitis .It took a month to completely clear. God knows what was in the dye. Thing is.. a complaint to Gardeur fell on deaf ears,no reply. I took them back to the shop. They said they would pass on my complaint. A month later? No reply. So the idea of 'quality' seems to be a thing of the past. Your either lucky or not.The manufacturers obviously don't care

Either there is an ongoing problem, or there was a manufacturing defect affecting a smaller sample, but either way they are selling something that is unsafe. It sounds rather like the "leather sofa" issues in the UK......

"Oh no not again"
YES :- Saturday 2nd July +/- 10.00 I was on the phone & it went dead!
Straight up to the site & there was my line wrapped around the back bucket of a JCB , even stranger they where using the front bucket tidy up a load off rubble ?
This time I did get the GNR to come out, they arrived & I explained that this was not the first time the line had come down ,as the first time they admitted to cutting it so the Hy Mack could get on the site.
As the GNR walked up to the site & on seeing me the site manger shouted in PT "Why are you starting a war over a telephone line"
Obviously the GNR heard this.
I stayed out off the way & they took a statement from him & the driver, they then took a statement & all my details from myself , I have waited for any result before posting, but off today 157 day's later ,as far as I know nothing has been done as I not received any info from the GNR that action has been started !
No Telephone & Internet yet again for 5 day's

Switch on early to start work on Friday 27th ,only to find I had NO Phone line ,therefore NO internet.
Did not take long to find out why , there's a demolition job going on up the road from myself & the ignorant barstewards had CUT my phone line because it was in the way !
Just got it back on this morning & guess what !!
I went to the GNR to issue a case against those who did it & was basically told to "sod off"
Oh p.s. went I went to the site & complained to them ,I got the same reply as the GNR gave me, but to be honest they did give me one bit off useful advice "call MEO to get it reconnected !
No wonder PT's in the -hit state it in !

Hmmm tricky one.. Not sure it was an issue for the GNR.?. it not being malicious damage etc.
It was certainly an issue for the building contractor. and for MEO to sort out between them.
I am assuming you were not the only one affected?.
Fact of life.. These things happen everywhere and isn't peculiar to Portugal..
When we first moved into our rented house in the Netherlands we came home the second night to find the entire downstairs flooded with sewage. Local 'yokel' plumbers had no idea where it was coming from. Took our downstairs loo out and placed it in the middle of the front lawn,!!!? then proceeded to dig up the entire front garden to find the main drain.. They found it,but not before they had chomped through the TV cable ,knocking out the entire street and especially our new TV addict neighbour. He came a spade short of killing them.
Apparantly the main drain had collapsed right outside our house and we got the contents of everyones shower and loo in our toilet . I was --this.--- close to boarding a plane and going home. What sort of third world country was this?
Shit happens.. if you'll pardon the pun

Do they care that you've lost your internet? No.
Do they care that it's because of the digger? No.
Do they care whether the digger driver has all the necessary permits and liability insurance? ......................

I had the Meo linesman around to my place a few weeks ago; he wanted to enter my property to get to the junction box.
I told him there's a new one on the pole outside, because since I stopped letting them in they ran new wires around the outside of my yard.
Then he came back; "The wire is cut!" he said.
That's the old wire I told him; the new one runs around the outside of my yard.
They then ran ANOTHER new wire, around the outside of my yard. There are 5 of them now, for 2 users.
Anyway, I guess that wire that ran through my yard was still in use, and the new one they ran around the outside wasn't ever connected...
So yeah, I did it. I didn't mean to, I really thought those wires were not in use. Luckily no one called the GNR on me!
It sure is nice not having phone lines branching out in 3 directions around my house.
Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of those 2 extra overhead electric lines...

Your post reads as if you need these
https://www.multiopticas.pt/
There is system in place here whereas if a "Utility" is in danger off being damaged ,or causing problems because off it's placement , all you have to do is phone or contact the supplier ,& within a short space off time ,they will take action to alleviate the possible problem.
But , The "digger" driver did none off this , he just put one off the labour's in the digger bucket with a pair off cutters & told him to cut the line down!
The MEO engineer had to call in help because off the distance involved in pulling a new line thru.
Why :- Because the cut line was left laying on the ground in the entrance to the site. & was completely chewed up due to the traffic that had passed over it, nobody on site had the brains to move it !
All this was solely due to the digger driver utter stupidity & lack off respect for others.
+ I had NO phone & No Internet for +/- 120 Hours
(but I still have to pay the invoice as if I had the service)
It took 2 engineers + 5 hours labour & over 100 mt's off new line to restore my service.
My "Agency" is internet based !
But,on the up side , a interesting comment from the engineer.
"I will be interviewed but my boss tonight over what has happened"
I just hope MEO send the fatura to the digger driver
