The price of scrap metal in Porto?
Dear all,
I admit this is a bit of a left-field question. I'm doing a renovation and have removed a lot of railings around a terrace - is it worth anything or should I just get the council to remove or take it to my local commercial dump.
Many thanks
Jules

The value changes, but there is a value.
Last time I sold scrap, it was 10 cents a kilo.
I used to give it to the gypsies, but lately I saved up a big load, and I got paid 35 euros for it at local scrap yard.
It's only worth anything if it's not mixed with other material; a bit of paint and rust is ok, but no wood, masonry, or other metals.
In the past, I sold some tons and got a few hundred Euros.

You might find this Facebook group useful for flogging your old railings - give an idea of where you are so interested people can decide if you are local enough to them.
