Anyone know of a good mobile welder or somewhere I could purchase new driveway gates?
They are electric but it is the weld where the hinge connects to the gate that has rusted away and broken. The electric and hydraulic bits are OK

Any help or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say what area you're in but why not just ask for contact details of a local welder in your local builder's merchant or metal supplier?

Thanks mfesharne for your reply. Apologies! I forgot to say that I am in the Loule area. We have only been living here since 1st October (just over 5 months) so have not found these local things yet - nor do we speak the language yet!
I will scout around Loule to see what I can find - but I tried here in case anyone had any experience

When I first got here I found that asking at the local hardware store usually got me a number / name for all things mechanical / electrical. But language may still be an issue.

I know of a man, but he's near Ourique. You could always pm me and I can ask him when I see him later this week.

Local knowledge is everything, ask your Portuguese neighbours.
We had a similar problem hinges were re welded gates re hung for the princely sum of 60 Euros, that is the expensive Algarve for you.

The manager of the little hardware store on hte main street just a wee past the round about and across from the new Millennium Bank speaks good English and knows everything! PM us if you want meet up for a coffee and chin wag as we also have a place 1km from city center in Loule.
