The Centre has been finished for some time but the final paperwork took a long time to be issued by the Camara.
Plenty of info on the Centre website - Centre Algarve | Holiday centre for people with Special Needs
And a video of the Centre here -

I 100% stand down on this subject. Yes, yes, of course I have seen all the promotional and marketing material; it's quite nice enough but nothing on details of fiscal governance, management and the decision making processes and such. For me (& Just For Me Only) for my money (an time) it's not transparent enough for my comfort. But who cares what I think...

All the monies raised so far is in mydonatebt.com. We are well over half way to our target. I am hoping with the money raised from the auction we will get there.
If anyone wishes to follow my progress, please contact me. If the letter can't be sent please contact the Managing director himself. He will be happy to give you the names of the people you are asking for.

Nice article in Portugal News about sponsored ride from Malaga in support of Centre Algarve - Tottenham Hotspur legends kick-start charity cycle marathon - The Portugal News

Sorry Mike, but it seems that you are still only sending me marketing and promotional PR in response to my questions about governance?
Anyone can write anything about anything.
You've still not sent one document or answered my questions on your charitiy's governance, this should be simple, transparent and accessable to anyone to whom you are asking for help in fundraising; just normal fiduciary stuff right at your fingertips
Why not just write facts? Kinda odd that you only seem to send Public Relations and marketing stories in response to my requests.
Well for me, until all the information about this how this business is run and the financials are available as to where each and every single penny is spent and exactly how and by whom the decisions are made to spend this money (that you ask us to help raise) and you provide the names of the 'independent' directors ('independent' means they don't have ANY financial or other kind of vested interest in this business) and who are required legally to insure sagacious fiscal management of this charity. Your business (albeit a noble concept) is still (& Just For Me & ONLY Me) WAY too opaque and vague to contribute one penny or one hour of my time.
There are MANY local Portuguese AND vetted international charities that have avaiable open and transparent books, governance policies and accounts etc., et., etc., for me to lend my support versus a closed books operation based in the UK.
So that's it for me on this subject. Don't want back and forth stuff I am ONLY interested in verfiable, evidentury based, hard facts not PR videos or newspaper articles. I'm offline on this thread.

I just wanted to inform people that I am organising an auction on the 4th November at the Centre to raise money to get an under privaliged family with special needs to have a holiday at the centre. If the money I raise does this, its a job well done.
I don't have any qualms about the charity. I have visited the centre a number of times. Met with the volunteers and staff, which are very helpful and kind. Everywhere is kept well, the grounds and the animals. The feedback from the guests shows it works. If this person want other info, let them go get it and leave us to do what we are doing.

I have nothing to do with the Centre Algarve.
I only know the current position because Andy Mahoney responded on a (mutual) friend's Facebook page.
I provided a link to the Centre's website which contains info about the Centre and 24/7 as I thought it would help.
I provided the social media links purely as reference so others have more info about what the funds were being raised for.
The newspaper article was topical I thought....
Yvonne, the lady who started this thread, has the answers you want it seems.
Hopes this clears up my (non) involvement.
Cheers,
Mike.

Good morning Mike, I am apologising for rattling this persons cage. I do have a letter from Andy, which covers most of her questions, but don't know how to add it to this thread. It's not very charitable of them to say all this.

I know people who have worked there and been humbled by their efforts, especially as they faced an ever increasing uphill struggle at times.
Not sure I can offer much in support of your auction as we recently cleared out for a similar auction for refugees. Will gladly come along to spend some money though!
Good luck and keep us posted
