Auction

I am holding an auction on 4th November at Centre Algarve in Moncarapacho. It is a charity auction, so if you have anything you would like to donate please contact me. Items will be on view a few days before and reserves can be placed. A pre-order meal will be served before the auction. The money raise will go to pay for an under privaliged family with special needs to come on holiday there, which is Europes only dedicated special needs holiday centre.

I think you'll get more attention and relevant replies if you post this in the Portugal forum.

I have moved your thread over to the Portugal forum. Good luck with the auction.

I would also post on the local Facebook Groups.

Presumably you want good secondhand as well as new items? If so, then I will have a look in my loft.

Might be a good idea to mention what charity the funds will be going to and also not a good idea to post your contact details on a public forum.

[QUOTE=roadislandred;12064205] thank you. Thought the reply would have gone just to him. How do I delete them. The charity is the Centre Algarve in Moncarapacho to pay for an under privaliged family with special need to go on holiday there.

your edit function will probably have timed out by now so you'll have to ask a moderator to do it for you.

Re: Auction

hmmmmm .....who is the family that will be using the centre? Are they Portugeuse or UK citizens? How are the candidates selected? Who decides where and how the money we all raise is actually spent? Who's on the Board of Directors of this UK Charity? Are all the dwellings on the propererty finally signed off with the council as legally built and safe? There were some problems, in the past yes? Perhaps all is resolved now? I'm ALL for helping the disenfranchised. ....but I'd like more information on this charity first AND if all is transparent and valid, then I'd be MORE then pleased to support a charity auction!

Re: Auction

Thanks Roadislandred; I'm crazy busy at the moment and have no time for a 'talk'. The evidentiary information I'm asking should be easy enough for you list here within this forum. I think it would be expected; especially if you are asking for contributions to raise money for a registered UK charity. The last time I asked about the ‘Centre Algarve’ specifically for the names of ANY 'independent' Board of Directors members, there were no independent directors only relatives of the founder and (I think) a former client. The email account from which this information was sent to me was a URL that did not have a website just a holding page for a website, which I found strange. But, and this is ‘Just For Me’ (& only for me) the governance and management of funds etc., for this charity was all a bit too 'iffy' for my comfort. Naturally everyone is welcome to conduct their own due diligence and make their own choices…this is “Just For Me”. But with evidence (vs a chat) I’m always willing to consider a new opinion but no more time today.
