Hello all,
I am in the middle of the international recruitment with western australia Police.
Just a quick question on the eyesight requirements.
It states 6/30 uncorrected which I can easily meet but also mentions corrected visual acuity standard of 6/6 binocularly or 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other when wearing soft contact lenses.
Can anyone who has completed this stage clarify does this mean you need to meet both standards or does the second part only count if you can't meet the uncorrected?
I only ask as I might not be able to meet the second requirements without lenses, and I might have to test contact lenses for future reports.
Thanks all

Not sure when all the UK and Ireland recruitment will come to an end as this place here is full of transitionals now … but I have noticed a halt to comments on this thread which is a shame as it assisted me massively throughout my recruitment and eventual move. It is well worth scrolling through, if that’s you right now.
I joined WAPOL, a fair while ago, as part of the overseas recruitment campaign, this very thread relates to.
One thing that was apparent, still is apparent for me to be fair, is how a lot of us aren’t necessarily given the ‘full’ picture should I say before we arrive.
A lot of surprised people I joined with, many who I’ve worked with also, didn’t know for example you can fail the academy and be forced to resign or offered to take up other staff roles within WAPOL. It’s certainly no breeze through training like a lot of English/Welsh cops (apologies Ireland/Scotland can only speak from experience) would be potentially used to.
Even more intense when you move so far away, sell houses, kids schools etc. and that happens to you. This happened to four people in my intake alone, so it’s definitely the minority but well worth knowing about.
There are similarities for sure, but id say a lot more differences to what you might be accustomed to. Some
good, some bad like anything is I’d imagine.
Happy to fend any queries or questions (within reason) if there are any. The good, bad, ugly.. maybe political answers given for some, as it is a public forum after all … :-)
