Default Reveiving mail in Manila

For those Brits that have moved to The Philippines do you have a problem with receiving your mail?

First of all the mail from within The Philippines like utility bills and bank statements, visa card bills etc.

And more importantly mail from the UK.
Even if I moved to Phils permanently I would still get statements from UK investments, HMRC correspondence and letters from family.

Utility bills are delivered by the company and not the postal service. For more important mail like visa bills etc you need to sign for them.
Personally i have only ever had one letter go missing from the UK but it did have cash in it! To be on the safe side try and do as much as you can online. Mind is that safe!

Thanks googly,
I did not realise electric, water and telephone bills are delivered directly by the companies.

I was thinking I would open a bank account in the UK with HSBC and then in Manila with HSBC and get a Visa with them and do what I can online.
Maybe ask to go paperless.

HSBC Premier provide a very good service. They will open an account in any country you choose. Banking online is very simple with them and if I ever need to go to the bank in Cebu or Manila the service is excellent. Despite opting to go paperless with HSBC UAE they still send regular statements which all arrive.

It's alsp worthwhile having a Local Savings Account with BDO. They are the biggest Retail Bank with ATMs everywhere. Just drip some cash into the account every month - They also pay interest!

BDO also has a very good Internet Banking System too.

Thanks for the replies.

One thing less to worry about.

I am travelling to Manila in a couple of weeks time so will go into the HSBC and BDO to get more information.
