hi my name is vic im english.i have been in philippines san carlos city negros 2 years with a break of 4 months my girlfriend and i had a baby boy in january all is well and he is doing fine
someone told me i can get uk child benefit for my son
if anyone has any information on how to go about getting this please get in contact we would be most grateful

Sorry if this is a bit of daft statement, but why should you be entitled to UK child benefits if you and your child are not living in the UK? Is that not cheating the system?

Sorry Vic, I think you will find that you have been misinformed. Even if the child had been born in UK, and then you came here, after six months you would be ineligible to claim.
Have you tried to register the birth with the embassy? You will find that you will need a DNA test, if you want a birth certificate. That applies even if you are married. Yes a real turn around from the law as it stands in UK. You will need the scans as well.

thanks desert rat..i asked the woman consul in cebu she said you can only register his birth not get a passport ..you know how it is these days if you were born and bred in the uk and your dad and grandads fought in the big wars haha..i see you spend time in arabia..i was 2 years in aden yemen 1962/64 but iv got to say the standard of driving in ph is even worse than there lol ..thanks take it easy

As I understand it once you can prove a child is yours he automatically is a British Citizen and entitled to a passport. Maybe check again with the consulate. Yes driving standards are poor here but speed is less than in Arabia!!
