Re: Phone, internet, online
Did the Globe SIM registrations this morning. Fairly easy except for the photos. As foreigners we have to submit four, locals two. I needed to do some image reducing and editing with mine. Size limit 4MB. Got the blue screen twice uploading the photos. On page 1 had to start again. On page 2 it saved page 1. For the passport seems you also need the official observations page in the photo.
Weirdly you can only do one number at a time. I need to do a Smart number but that will have to wait as they send you an OTP. No signal where I am now. |
Re: Phone, internet, online
Just seen that there's a bill before Congress that everyone must register their social media accounts.
First the introduction of new id's, then registration of SIM cards... now this (if true). Hmmm 🤔 |
Re: Phone, internet, online
What is happening with the new national Id's? Wifey went and registered over six months ago and to date, zilch! I as a foreigner had my name entered into a list and was informed that I will be sent an SMS. Again zilch.

But the author wants to breathe new life into it. However the "bashers" he complains about seem mostly to come from groups linked with the present and recently departed people in power here. Duterte wasn't supportive of the SIM reg bill, which included this in it, for that very reason.Think for the same reason it won't prosper. But in the current authoritarian climate here you can't be sure. And much more difficult to get the many and large social media companies to do registration than the local Telcos. He even wants Filipinos resident abroad to be included. |

Weird. Couldn't get any docs uploaded on the Smart SIM site. Including all the photos that were Ok on Globe's.
That SIM was only used occasionally in Globe dead spots so thinking just let it be canceled and maybe get another company's as a reserve SIM. |

Re: Phone, internet, online
There is a smart shop in SM Consolacion. Gave up trying to register my SIMs online, went to store, used my TIN as ID , done & dusted in 5 minutes!

Re: Phone, internet, online
WARNING...for anyone thinking to order PSA certs online.
Someone there has made a big mistake. We tried to order birth and marriage certs today. Both on a desktop and cellphone. After the personal details you come to a section asking what you will use the certs for. In our case it was for a Philippine passport. But try as you may you can't enter anywhere that you want the certs for a Philippine passport! One question allows you to choose "passport" and then you come to a list of countries. In which amazingly the Philippines is not included! Another question allows you to select "govt agency"...but the FDA not there. The Spanish consulate in Manila is though! So you can't continue and have to abort the process. It may be something they changed recently and so before long it will be corrected. They will see no orders. But best not to rely on that. We will have to visit a PSA center. Needs an appointment but thankfully we got one at our nearest one..But there were very few vacancies available this month. So if you need certs in the next 2 months I suggest you get on to it now, |
Re: Phone, internet, online
We recently need a PSA birth certificate for the MILs pension, PSA just sent a reference number which we presented at the military, all worked seamlessly.

But too many times you get what I have just reported . I nearly posted about another thing a few weeks ago. Had to change my BI password. It didn't work. So applied with a different email. All fine except for putting in my birth date. The calendar they gave you to use didn't go back easily. Had to press the back button hundreds of times to get to my birth date. |

Re: Phone, internet, online
Anyone here using Lloyds online banking with an older Android phone? They're saying update to at least Android 10 if you want to continue using the app.
Mine's 8.1.0. Can use the desktop but phone more convenient. So looks like need to fork out for a new phone. |
