Local Health
I filled in a health check form when I went to my dentist a while ago, he was surprised as to how healthy I was for my age, I just told him to stay healthy just avoid doctors because they will always find something wrong with you, ( I went to a doctor in 1977 broken bone, 1983 & 2008 for minor ailments ). After a moments thought, he agreed with me.
In the last week though my wife has had a cold but is now convinced that as she trod in a puddle she now has leptospirosis, typhoid, cholera plus a couple of other nasty ailments that she had seen on an ANC medical program. She asked me to look up on the internet to see how to cure these diseases she had, I told her there was no cure and suddenly she felt better.
Why are the locals ( or is it just my wife ) so influenced by medical programs that they have every disease known to man?

Re: Local Health
Read the first chapter of "Three Men in a Boat" for a good analysis of Hypochondria and a suggested cure.

I think we all know that Filipinos are border-line hypochondriacs!

And the doctors and quacks live well off it. We had an aunt who brought up 19 children and a lazy husband as a faith healer.
