living in cebu

im thinking of living in Cebu but im going to renew my visa every 59 days, I know I can do this up to 16 months I think but what if I want to stay longer? do I just leave the country for a week then it starts again or is there any restrictions?

Re: living in cebu
Hi, I live 50% of the time in Cebu and 50% in Hong Kong but as I'm married to a Filipina I not too sure of all the visa details as I only ever use 21 day tourist visas for quick trips or Balikbayan privilege when accompanied by my wife. But I think you are right - there are ways of extending beyond 16 months - however, you may feel like a break from Cebu after a while anyway and with more and more budget carrier flights from Cebu and Manila a few days away in places like Hong Kong are not that expensive. Check out a specialist Philippines forum for visa info - there are plenty of them.

I am a Permanent Resident in Cebu, with an ACR card.
If you do not want to go the permanent resident route, you can extend your visa for longer periods. I believe it is beyond six months, when the paperwork is sent to Manila for processing. For stays over six months unless on SRRV you will need to obtain an ACR card, cost $50 (you pay the Peso equivalent. BI in Cebu opposite Mandaue Hospital and next to the Fire Station, are extremely helpful, and customer orientated. Use the BI lawyer and photographer when needed, as then everything is guaranteed to be in order.
You can use your UK Driving Licence for ninety days. After which you must obtain a Filipino one. No problem if you have a British Licence.
Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) is a short flight from Cebu, if you want to leave and return, once your visa has been exhausted.

Re: living in cebu - Cebu City Apartments
Hi, any advice appreciated, please.
I've been in Cebu City just over a week, trying to get a grip on life here now I've adjusted to GMT+8.
I'm currently in a cheap hotel, wondering if I can take a short-term (6 months?) lease on an apartment. Also, if I can get a long-term one (say 1year or more, am I able to sub-let for periods when I'm back in Blighty?
Thanks in advance,
oatia (Old Age Traveller in Asia!)
