What does casual work really mean?

What does casual work really mean?
Hi there, can any of you already working in Oz just clarify for me....is working casually like working for the 'bank'? Is that different to working part time or is it the same thing?

At our place we have 'casual' and permanent casual'. casual is the same as bank but permanent casual' is someone who is contracted to a certain amount of hours a week but moves around the wards. Part time is just the amount of hours you do a week.
