Student Nurse
Hi All
I have been searching for weeks to find a site like this, and finally I have found you!!
Anyway I am a student nurse hoping to qualify in March 2010. I have mixed stories from people some saying that I can go to Oz straight away and others stating that I would need some experience first - can someone please shed some light, as we are waiting for the right time to sell our house! We are going to Oz as a family (3) so will also need to find out some info on Schooling and does anyone think that it is unfair to take a 8 year old out of UK school life?
Please Help!
Thanks

Re: Student Nurse
Hi
I qualify at the end of august this year. I have a 13 year old and a 7 year old. I applied for a new graduate position and have been acepted with no experience. This means I will be on a 457 sponsered by the hospital.

Hi Nursenancy3
I tried to post last night to you and placed a link on here and I don't think it liked it.
As Avi has said this morning you can go for a new graduate position/scheme in most states in Oz. Basically you register on line and apply for up to 5-6 hospitals of your choice in which ever state you are interested in. They tend to choose the nationals first and then go for internationals but as Avi has proven its a good scheme to go for.
I am hoping to do this and am in a similar position to you. I hope to qualify in Feb 2010 and will be moving out there with my husband and daughter who will also be 8 in Feb. Tbh we have had no worries at all (apart from when I saw her and her friends at sports day and got her fab school report last week) about taking her out of school as I think she is at the best age to do so. I also have alot of friends who themselves went to either the states or came over here between the ages of 6-8 and they said it was a good age and had no worries about settling in at all.
What state are you thinking of and what area of nursing do you work in?
Good luck with all your research.
Vicky
