Newly qualified staff nurses on £2 an hour??
Has anyone heard this rumour?? In our trust (and prob most others) lots of wards have closed down and there are really no Staff Nurse posts avail. The majority of newly qualified nurses are taking up HCA posts to keep their pensions/options open, to maintain the mortgage etc., but unfortunately won't gain any RGN experience. We've heard that if they want to practice as a staff nurse then they can do so voluntarily and in doing so gain experience, meds, taking charge etc for when (if) a post ever becomes available!! The trust will pay them £2 an hour for goodwill...............god, what is the NHS coming to?? I've lost count of the people who are after my job when/if i get my visa........ has anyone come across this??????????????

heard about it and think it is disgusting plus more fool the students who use it to gain RN experience because if something should go wrong they won't have any support. Not that I want anything to go wrong
