Re: Help please info req'd on nursing in Brisbane
The problem we have is that Rich only qualified in Feb 2003 so 18 mths reg'd. Apparently it is not enough and they want a huge bond of us for 12 mths. All our funds are tied up in the property till we sell and move over to Oz. There are jobs for Rich on the sites we have been given and we have seen some really nice property to buy / rent. Does anyone know of an agency that will do an application with 115 points (5 short) We have had so much advice but it is all confusing Thanks to all
Good luck to Marie, what area in Briz are you looking at living in?

Options include:
1. Some people get some extra finance on the equity in their property to fund the capital investment bond before the house is sold.
2. Have you looked at spouse skill points?
3. Have you an Australian relative who can sponsor you?
4. MODL points can be increased by 5 (from 15 to 20) if there's a job offer from a qualifying Australian employer
5. There are also the Skill Matching and STNI visas for which Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania sponsor. As a nurse you would have a good chance of getting sponsored for PR this way.
6. If you're happy to go to regional Australia, including Adelaide, then the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) may give a non points tested alternative:
http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/employers/index.htm
Regular Employer Nominated migration is more difficult for those without three years post-qual experience. However this issue does not apply to RSMS.
For a number of reasons, STNI or Skill Matching should be your first choice if bound for South Australia rather than RSMS.
You should ask immigration questions on the Australia immigration forum. This is also the place to ask for recommendations on a good migration agent, as it sounds like using one could add a lot of value to your case.

We like the Gold Coast area not so much Brisbane as there are no surf beaches unless you travel or get the ferry to Straddie, but lower end of the gold coast, Coolangatta, etc. just over the boarder from NSW. So we have the option of working NSW or Queensland. Also it's not that far from Brisbane if we did want to go. But not 100% sure yet. Depends on Jobs for Hubby, he's a paramedic so we will have to go where the work is really. How about you? Have you looked into State nominated. You will need to commit to 2 years I believe then you apply for the PR Visa, if I understand it right. Best asking on Immigration forum loads of people posting on there with advice, it's abit difficult cause it is a relatively new way of emigrating to Oz.
Good Luck
Marie
