Re: Australian Nursing - Sponsorship or PR
Hi Becky,
Sorry to hear you found a rude rep of the WA government to speak to - but the advice she has given, whilst curt, holds some truth.
After being the "emigration capital" for a while, WA has fallen behind and has almost moved to zero opportunity for nurses from overseas.
The tern for a "Registered Nurse" in Australia is "Registered General Nurse" (as opposed to specialists such as midwives for example. What she has failed to do is to link your RGN status with your clinical experience. I for one would like to view that.
It's unlikely that you will obtain a position with sponsorship within WA Health in Perth, however, there are alternatives in both Public and Private sector hospitals.
If you care to send me your CV, i will speak to my contacts in Australia with a view to providing a proper assessment of your potential.
My email address is in my signature - there is no obligation on your part to use my services beyond that.
Good Luck with your quest.

I'm currently on long days on the ward so it might be a day or two until I can get on my computer to send it offer if that is ok?.
I am happy to consider any options that are available to me to get out to Perth.
Kind Regards
Becky

Hi Dave, would it also be ok to forward you my CV? It does worry me to think I've missed the boat on the life down under!

I can say that although I've not got a job waiting yet (due to not yet having nursing reg sorted) Dave has been incredibly helpful supporting me through the process of getting things sorted. I'm sure if there's any way he can help to get you to Oz you'll get there!

Hi Dave,
just been reading your replies. Glad I did. I'm currently using a migaration agent who has gave me the option of applying for a PR 190 visa. They gave me several states to choose from. One being WA on condition of a 12 month job offer. I
currently work within critical care & just had my letter or determination from ANMAC, as I satisfy the criteria for critical care nursing in Australia. Is it possible to gain a 12 month job offer within WA or am I best choosing a different state? I do not have my registration with AHPRA yet? I thought I'd be best trying to get registration first before applying for vacancies. My next option is Queensland... Is Queensland the better option for work?
I should say I have my husband & daughter (11) coming with me.
