advice re: mental health nursing in Adelaide please!
My husband and I are in the process of applying to move to Adelaide on a SIV 136, (had our medicals yesterday!). I'm a CPN for older people and have just over 10 yrs experience as a nurse - the last 6 being in the community. Does anyone have any info on the mental health system in Adelaide - specifically community/older persons care? Also, what are my chances of getting community work when we move? - i am guessing zero!
Welcome any contacts as am feeling particularly negative about the whole thing today! Thanksx

Hi I work at Margaret Tobin Centre and some of the information is out of date on that website sheet and only the first two names with email addresses are still current.
If you want to continue working with 65+ patients in the south the REPAT hospital would be a good place to start making contacts and have expanded their services/beds over the last eighteen months.
Here's the repats website: http://www.rgh.sa.gov.au/
Community nursing over here is not the same as the UK. I thought it would be to big leap so applied for a in-patient job instead.
Think positively there are lots of jobs, and they are very willing to do telephone interviews too, they just take their time about things! ha ha
Good luck with it, and PM me if you have any further questions.
