Default Is it worth it?

Hi

Is it worth submitting an EOI with 115 points but no job offer. The qualification is in an identified shortage area. Has anyone done this and got pulled out from the pool?

We were planning on just going out on a WHV but thought we have nothing to lose by submitting an EOI - would much rather get PR before we left!

Hi,
We submitted our EOI on 115 points and our qualifications are not on shortage list, however were still hoping we'll get picked. I think though if you read the immigration web site i'm sure people have recently been picked in the same situation as you. Give it a quick check and then go for it. Goodluck.

Hi Jeany,

We submitted our EOI with 125 points & NO JOB OFFER on 23rd Jan 06 ready for the 1st Feb pool selection and we were selected in the March 1st pool.
That was with a trade on the shortage list, just make sure you have all the paperwork to back the trade as this is important for your points. We had a bit of a nightmare as my hubby couldn't get 1 of his C & G or proof of his apprenticeship, as a couple of the companies have since closed down, (well we are talking back in the 80's), still he completed an online pre-assessment with the NZQA got the result back in a few days which is sufficient for the EOI, he has since sent in for a full assessment with all his relevent company references and certificates (not cheap to get all them), the assessment was NZ$450 so not too bad. It's just taken a while doing a mega paper-chase.
The NZQA report was sent back last week so expecting it any day now, then we submit our ITA and start praying and crossing everything possible. I SAY GO FOR IT YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!!!

Good Luck Claire x

We immigrated to Canada. At the time of applying we were little short of
points (75 they were asking for). Luckily for us, when our application was
in progress, government reduced the points.

I think you should try as well. But in your application,
DO NOT show you are not having enough points.

Hope it helps. I am not too sure how New Zealand application looks like.

Thanks for the info.

OH has a trade certificate (BTEC National) with a completed apprenticeship as an Aircraft Electrician. This has been assessed with NZQA so all ok.

He also has the Electrical Installation City and Guilds Part 1 Part 2 (which is on shortage list) but hasn't got the registration as he doesn't work as a general electrician.
Called the Immigration Office in New Zealand and they just say put down exactly what you have got. Just have concerns around him not having the registration but we have tried to clarify all this but just get told to put the exact qualifications that he has. So that is what we will do!!!! Fingers crossed.

Thanks again
