Whilst I have no idea what life is going to throw at me, or what decisions I might make in the future, for now I'm happy & settled in NZ. Been here over 4 years, & had my moments, missing people & places from the UK, & odd episodes of "did we do the right thing?". But we have a good life here, great friends, secure jobs, comfortable home. And life's good.
So, for me, I think I'm here to stay. I hope that I'll be able to afford the occasional trip back to the UK for holidays, but I now consider NZ to be my home, & I'm happy here.

Temporarily back in the UK, but when I return to NZ, fully intend to stay for good. I'm UK born, but feel NZ is my 'spiritual' home. I miss being there enormously, and feel drawn back there. I'm lucky to have travelled extensively, but no-where else comes even close to NZ for me.
Sorry if I sound happy-clappy, but it really is how I feel about the place.

No plans to leave at all.

We even have quite far fetched discussions about downsizing in X years to pay for our retirement In NZ of course

I have my moments when I feel like NZ is not what it was..where is? NZ on the whole has always exceeded our expectations over the 7.5 years here, it is attitude and the like that irk me. I realise no where is perfect and NZ certainly does afford us a great life in many many ways. Basically I need to get out of Palmy more!! Sometimes you got a bit stir crazy! We have a very, very safe car now so I am happier to venture out into 100klm territory!!!

Personally part of me would love to return to the Uk as I miss so much but I know deep down I would not be able to cope with the crowds. NZ is wonderful if only for its unpopulous nature.

but I reckon that as the kids are stuck here then I'm here for the next 12 years, unless it all gets too expensive and I have to move away.

Been in NZ for more than 9 years and it is a permanent move for us. This has been reinforced during my current visit back to the UK.

Only way I can cope with a visit to the UK now is to go in Dec and Jan. That way I get my 'proper' xmas fix, as do the kids, get the country and its attractions pretty much empty, few queues, a proper weather system for that time of year and those perfect fresh crisp UK mornings a la countryside.

And I get amazing accomodation (house rental) for a fraction of the price you would in summer.

Just curious...
We are very happy here and have no intention of leaving, although if you took me back 10 years I was happy in the UK. So to my best knowledge we are here forever!
