Where is the best curry in Auckland?

Where is the best curry in Auckland?
I will be in Auckland this weekend and I have pencilled in Sunday for a curry. Please tell me where I can go! I will be staying in the CBD, so anywhere within reasonable taxi distance would be a bonus.
My mouth is watering as I write this!

Always liked the food at Oh Calcutta in Parnell, about 5 mins from CBD.

Um, dunno about curry but on Wellesley Street, Auckland CBD there's a really good steakhouse. Old fashioned, er I mean, Classic. The Middle East Café does nice kebabs etc. Next door to that is a Mexican that I'd like to visit next time we're in Auckland CBD.

Oh Calcutta is the best that I have eaten at in Auckland but the quality bar for curry houses here is set very low.
It is probably a bit much to expect a large number of British-style Indian restaurants to choose from but I'd be interested to hear if there are any.

Oh Calcutta it is then. I will try to leave my expectations at the door. I'll send a report!
Thanks everyone.

Too far out of your way to get up to the Whangaparaoa Peninsula on this occasion but OH & I decided to try out what was the Indian Village (now the India Village), Manly last Sunday. We both had fantastic curries. The OH asked if they could make him a Lamb Pasanda - he's not had one since he's been in NZ & they did & he loved it.
The new team seem to be doing a great job. Can't wait to go again.
Went to Oh Calcutta many moons ago & I remember it being fairly decent.

I'm still to find a good one so let us know if its any use. I tend to find its often the meat in the curry rather than the sauce thats the biggest issue...gristle and skin curry...not my thing

I suggest others say the same thing
The Maison Thai across the road from the India Village is also very good. The best fish 'n' chippy in the area we have found so far is Kippers in Orewa.

Another vote for Oh Calcutta. We are on the shore but if we are ever down the CBD way around dinner time, we tend to pick up a take away from down there.

Thanks very much everyone. I had a fantastic meal at Oh Calcutta on Sunday night, best curry since I left the UK (gulp 13 years!).
I would have to say, it is not like a British curry, but it was bloody good. I had a lamb Ghosht Do Piaza and my colleague had the Chicken Do Makawana, both a drier style of curry, but fantastic. Along with a yellow lentil dhal, nan bread, pickle tray (yes!) and 660ml bottles of Kingfisher.
Highly recommend if you are in Auckland.
