when to have the movers in??

when to have the movers in??
what day shall we book the removals for?? we fly on 12/08/08 and our leaving party is on 09/08/08 ( sat night). if there here on the sat then we wont be able to get ready for the party, if they come on the sunday wer gonna have huge hangovers ( well OH will) monday will be manic anyway with all the last minute stuff
so that leaves the week before, but then we will have to do with out our stuff for a week,
what did everyoneelse do or what is everyone planning to do????

can't really answer your question, but i can tell you what we are doing.
We fly the 16th March, and the removals are coming the 6th Jan, not sure who we are using yet, but we will be begging and borrowing for 10 weeks, we are leaving a few pots and pans and a tv etc and relying on friends and family for the rest, we wanted our furniture there when we landed, it's easier this end to borrow from people as we don't know anyone in NZ yet.

We got the movers in on the Thursday and Friday ( house still on market so when movers left at almost midnight I was cleaning for another couple of hours!) on Friday night - what was left of it - we stayed with my brother and on Saturday at 4am we drove down to London from Glasgow with bags and dog and 2 cats! Flew from Heathrow that same night. Oh the joy,

We were very fortunate and had a purchaser for our home within 3 weeks of advertising, the board went up a month before we advertised so people were already interested.
We moved out a month before leaving and stayed with friends.
Kept our belongings in storage (UK) for a month then had it shipped out.

We told our packers when we had to leave the house & they told us how long it would take to pack etc.
The 3 guys came in on Weds & Thurs, wrapped & packed everythig & we leftan empty 4 bed house on Thurs night.
I was told by ll of the companies we had in to quote it would be about 2 days to do the lot.
