at Rita Sue and Bob Too. Great film.
Round here (Auckland) high school students etc seem to charge about $10 an hour, more qualified people (agencies or childcare workers who have qualifications, first aid certificate etc) up to $15 an hour. I used to do it years ago for $10 an hour - it was, after all, basically just being paid to sit there watching TV.

My pal pays $10 an hour for a babysitter who is a friend's daughter.
She did offer more but the babysitters Mum said this was a going rate.

True on the being paid to watch TV.
$10 an hour seems reasonable.

My daughter gets $12-18 (depends how many kids, etc) and a lift home if it's late. But for that she does bath and bedtime, and sometimes dinner, etc.

I don't, I'm part of a babysitting syndicate, we all babysit for each other and gain points for how long we sit, we then use these points when someone sits for us. It's great because you can have monthly nights out with hubby without bothering friends all the time
