What to do in Auckland and Wellington?

What to do in Auckland and Wellington?
Hi All
Our family (my parents and brother) are off to Auckland for 7 nights and Wellington also for another 7 nights. It's our first time we want to find out if we would enjoy living there, and if so, try to emigrate.
I will be hiring a car in both cities so for example will be able to drive to Rotorua. Can anyone give me some ideas of what i can do while out in Nz?

Do you want tourist suggestions? Cos I can help with that.
But as a kiwi I will keep my paws out of any discussion about what to look for when emigrating! I wouldn't have a clue.
But if you want travel ideas...yep can come up with that. How much time were you wanting to spend on travel/tourist things?
