GOLF IN PALMERSTON NORTH
Hi
Can anyone tell me what the golf scene is like in Parmy.
Is it as big a social event as it is in the UK ?

Golf in NZ generally is quite popular, but of course struggles in the recession like everything else.
There are loads of courses which by UK standards are bloody cheap and mostly very casual in dress etc. Dont be surprised to see guys playing in rugby shirts or whatever- dress codes are very undemanding.
Cant comment on Palmy North courses themselves, but there you are well placed to access an amazing number and variety of courses within a two hour drive.
As for the social scene, well some clubs may be ok, but also many clubs dont open the bar except for weekends or maybe more often during the summer.
Id have to say that golf is one of the good things about NZ if you have the time to play and travel. But the social scene may be different to what u are used to in UK.
