Default What car?

After my previous car was stolen, and finally squeezed some money out of the insurance company I'm off car shopping this weekend.

Don't want to spend anymore than $5k, and I want something smallish, economical that will also be capable of having a 14ft canoe on a roof-rack (so much for my dream of a convertable !)

In the short list to look at ... honda civic, small BMW, Escudo, Rav4, Ford Festiva .....

So, what would you consider?

TIA,

Lou

Hi

On a personal oppinion I would gop for a BMW, rav 4 is good but being higher might mean a more difficult lift up for it, good German engineering

Honda Civic doos car, readily avalible spares for these, reliable as well, Ford ... for reliability prob not the best but still lots of parts and gaages to service them

Hope this helps

Can't help with choice of car but we will have same problem as OH has a 16 foot canoe and the 2 boys kayaks which JUST fit on the roof of our x-trail. OH says he wants to upgrade to a pathfinder or a navarra when we get to NZ so they can get 3 lots of gear in as well So no economical vehicle for us then!! Hope you find something suitable soon, good luck

Oh well, we only saw one car in the end - the BMW and loved it so much, we bought it!

Hubby is now thinking that he might put the roof rack on his car - a toyota townace, and invest in a could of stap ladders!! Phew! Either that, or he'll have to make do with his kayak which will fit inside the van.

Off to pose ....
