I came here in 1987 on my own as a young single woman, stayed 2 years, got horribly homesick, went back on a one way ticket. When the plane touched down at Gatwick I thought "s*** what have I done?" took me four months to save up to come back beginning of 1990. Luckily I had residency and ex NZ boss then offered me a job and paid my flight back and I've never felt homesick since. Love it here can't imagine living there again. I am going for a 5 week visit in June - will have a great time seeing family, friends, all things English again, especially the countryside, old pubs etc.
My parents are getting on a bit now so really need to spend some quality time with them - however I don't really miss them even though we are close. Have my own family here anyway.

I did have but for reasons Im not going into that were nothing to do with me, my children are now elsewhere.

Hard isn't it. We are on our own here though that's a great thing with OH'S family . I feel guilty about not being nearer to my Mum and Dad. Mum hasn't been in the best of health for years now and I have a bad feeling about her this year. My nephew has just had a daughter and I won't get to meet her for ages. I hope to go back next year for a visit.

Well, it was a family decision and ...it was the granules not even the proper powder!!!!!! And it was 6 years ago!!!!!!

Tho, I do not get the weird Lewis Rd chocolate milk obsession that has gripped the nation.

I have had the chocolate milk once and it was jolly yummy but I don't get the obsession either. Nice for a treat one in a while but that's it for me. It might make a good chocolate custard to go on a trifle, for a change. Blast, now the home economist in me feels the need to experiment.

Do you think a chocolate custard trifle would cheer you up Col?
