Just returned from a trip to NZ.
We took a taxi from Aukland airport to Parnell to meet some relatives.....it cost $68
It is hardly a long trip
before anyone says we were ripped off....we were warned beforehand that it would be over $60 and that is a typical fee.

Taxis are extortionate here and we were charged $80 from Airport to CBD 6 years ago!! And whilst it's too late for you, my advice to anyone needing transport to from Auckland airport is to use the Shuttle, you can book door to door service to your home or hotel

Oopsie . Yes. Taxis are expensive here. You wanna try it on an NZ wage.We've only used a taxi once in 7 years.
As BJ says. Shuttles are the only way to go from airports.

Our house to the city is about 25 K about 85 bux in a cab they are way over priced some charge a fiver as soon as you sit down

First time I took a cab it was $60 ... omg... but hey you live and learn.. 2nd time I found a nice bus dropped me off 5 mins from hotel so it cost me $8 result.. 
you can find the bus outside the terminal to almost all hotels, and they pick up all over town too...
it pays to shop around...

Yep you only do it once, now we share being the sober driver if we are going out at night or use the bus - taxis are not cheap. At work we rent cars for staff coming to Auckland for a few days as it works out cheaper than taxis to and from the airport etc!
