Tales of woe
So instead of spending time with friends in ChCh over xmas period and the new year and looking forward to driving up through the south island making our way to Rotorua, we are currently house sitting in cuxton wondering when if ever we get our visas to travel. It started in october when i had my medical, my heamoglobin was .2 above the norm so the panel doc sent me to a specialist to prempt the medical board of any referrals they may make, £350 later i had the test and they were sent off and due to return in 2 weeks time, 3 weeks later they was eventually return to the specialist who was at that time away on holiday, he returned a week later and took another week to get the results to us so we could send off to immigration, this we did electronically , there was currently a 3 week wait for the medical board and the date being around the 20th nov we thought we would have plenty of time as my results came back a lot lower and within the limits so we thought we was covered.Fast forward to the 20th dec and in contact with immigration ourselves as our emigration company ( workin-in )was not pulling there weight and our rep was on constant holiday, anyway to cut our long winded story short, the medical report is lost in london somewhere, meaning immigration have no idea where it is, had to cancel flights once on xmas eve and looks like we will have to cancel our new years day flights as well but till when we dont know and my OH has to start her job by 26th jan. Oh and another thing, we included a pre-paid registered envelope for my OH quals to be sent back to us once they had been varified by immigration, they sent them back in another envelope to my OH previous address of 18 months ago, hassle we had trying to get that back!!
Still it could be worse!!

The medical assessor did not send the reports out before christmas, apparently there was a miss-communication between the assessor and his PA? so when they said the report was in transit and was being tracked, they wasnt really , they were sitting on a desk
Anyway, apparenly they are going to send out by courier today so its a possibility immigration may get them today?? if not tomorrow! i did want to ring up immigration and ask if they could contact the assessors and ask for either a faxed copy or emailed copy whilst waiting for original to be delivered and that way if any problems arose then we would be ahead of the game, but i didnt trust myself on the phone, so we passed it back to our consultant to try and make some headway for us and did pose a few questions regarding PR as we only went for a working visa to save time, we did get back avery nice condesending email
So come what may, we are now booked to fly on the 15th jan, as my OH has to get there to start work, so atleast one of us are on our way

Glad things are finally working out after reading your post.
Another Rotorua bunch....cool!
You'll love it, I certainly do, and you'll find heaps of help from those that live here.
Good luck with your travels....should be nice and hot when you arrive, the thought of that should keep you happy after all the cold weather they are having back in blighty

Good luck for your flight over. we arrived on new years day into auckland and the weather has been glorious ever since, strange going from -10 to 28 in 2 plane flights! Still on holiday in wanganui visiting family and friends but excited about travelling upto rotorua on the 18th as we have a lovely house to move into that I have arranged through a connection with my new job. You'll forget all the hassle once you've got off the plane, we did and we had a child being sick for most of it with a 24 hour bug.

Re: Tales of woe
We arrive in rotorua on tuesday too and the weather is looking good, a bit of a breeze again today but still nice and warm. We are enjoying the slow pace of life here, no body seems to be in a rush.
Just to warm you we've been shocked by the price of food etc, much higher than i remembered and much higher than the uk - the power of the english supermarkets certainly drives down the prices.
the next 5 days will fly by, enjoy your last few days with family and friends
