Sperm Whale washes up on Paraparaumu Beach
Any of you Kapiti coasters been along for a looksee?

Looks interesting but it's chucking it down with rain and 20 deg C just now and I don't fancy going out.

Not to mention the vinegar, but, just the normal amount of salt for nz fish and chips !

well finally dragged the kids out and by the time we got there the tide was coming in so could only see the top half of it

went back this evening to discover they are cutting it up. Jaw bone is going to be distributed to a handful of local bone carvers and the rest of the poor creature is going to be buried in QE2 Park. Spoke to one of the guys organising the thing and he told us the whale was 82yrs old.
