We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week recci to the South Island. Stayed in ChCh and Nelson and travelled around. It is an amazing place and has now made us decide it is full steam ahead to complete our ITA in the next couple of weeks, rent the house and then we are coming your way

OH had quite a few interviews but now we are home some of the job offers are not materialising in writing, which is bit annoying, but hey. He now has 3 offers in the pot - one in ChCh, one in Nelson and one in Ashburton. He has had a great offer from a company in Ashburton, but not 100% sure about the town? The day we visited it was raining, with heavy fog so couldn't see the mountains etc, so it was at a slight disadvantage and we didn't have time to go back. Is there anyone from that area that can advise of any nice areas within 25 mins of Ashburton. We fell in love with Redcliffs and Sumner in ChCh and know we can't have that near Ashburton, but the town itself did not do it for us. We went to Lake Hood, but there is not enough there yet to tell how it will be.

Any help please as we need to make a decision on the job offers this weekend.

If you have a mullet you will like Ashburton. Chc would be far more cosmopolitan.
