How long does a job usually stay on this list for?

I would assume that 'short term list' refers to skills needing immediate placement extending up to 1-3yrs before it is anticipated enough will be employed in the area.

I would assume medium term would be 3-5 or 3-7 years and long term 5 (or 7) years and ongoing.

A lot of this is related to immigration/emmigration patterns, university and trades courses, and the number of people entering them, and their expected entry into the workforce.

My suggestion would be that you contact nz immingration about these listings as well as prospective employers.
